Excellent Latin jazz project by timbalero-bandleader Bobby Matos. In addition to eight original tracks there are compositions by Miles Davis ("All Blues"), Tito Puente ("Mas Bajo") and Lou Pérez ("No Me Diga Na'"). And there's a luscious interpretation of "Autumn Leaves" (Kosma-Prévert-Mercer) sung, con sabor and sophistication, by Dee Dee McNeil. Also with Danny Weinstein, Theo Saunders, Robertito Melendez, Edwin Livingston, Sal Marquez, and Jud Matos.

Bobby Matos is a survivor and defender of certain Afro- Antillean musical traditions which are indespensible roots of contemporary Latin Jazz. He brings a "streets of New York" edge to his work and provides a fundamental element that too many young lions are skipping over. His group is an incubator for young talent and of course attracts old school veteranos as well.
